Incidents of chain snatching have returned to haunt the city as another incident was reported today at Ashok Nagar.

66-year-old Chandra Devi, resident of Ashok Nagar, Road No.16 was targeted today by two motorbike borne persons who snatched off a 2 Tola gold chain from her and fled away. The shocked senior citizen shouted for help, but the bikers disappeared in a matter of seconds.

However, chain snatchers were captured in the CCTV Camera footage. The camera was installed in the veranda of a house located near the place of incident. The footage was also provided to police and might help in further investigations.

The Police have installed check-posts at several areas but could not get any clue of the culprits’ whereabouts. Chandra Devi was returning from a Temple when the incident happened.

A similar incident had occurred on 29^th June too. In both cases, a few common approaches and sequences were noticed. First, the chain snatchers are targeting old women who are walking alone. Secondly, the incident takes place when the victims are either going to returning from Temples. The third is that the attacks take place in narrow by-lanes of residential areas.
