An attempt of chain theft failed at Gyan Nagar, Hiran Magri on Tuesday night. However, a report was lodged at Hiran Magri police station post which the search of the accused began.

The victim Paan devi Jain was targeted by accused chain snatcher on Tuesday night while she was returning to her house from nearby Jain Temple. The thieves on the bike, standing on the roadside came closer to the victim and tried to snatch the gold chain she was wearing.

The attempt failed and the woman started shouting due to which the accused fled from the scene, informed SHO Chagan Purohit, Hiran Magri police station.

Soon the relatives of the victim reached the spot and immediately informed the police about the theft. Later an FIR was lodged against the accused followed by barricading launched across the city.
