Children rescued from Human Traffickers, 2 arrested

9 children have been rescued by the anti-human trafficking unit of Udaipur while they were allegedly transporting the kids to neighboring Gujarat for laboring job. Two people were arrested early morning after the rescue operation was conducted on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway today.

All rescued children are in the age group of 6 to 8 years and are residents of Bekariya village.

According to the police, at around 3:30am today, the anti-human trafficking team of Goverdhan Vilas Police Station was on its routine patrolling on the highway when they received information about a white colored TATA Sumo jeep having a Gujarat number plate and carrying some children; going towards Gujarat.

Acting on the tip off, the team led by ASI Sawant Singh stopped the vehicle no. GJ-1-HH-1525 at Paduna Toll Naka at around 4 in the morning and rescued 9 children, all boys and arrested Ashok Chand Paliwal, 32, resident of Modi village, Gogunda and Dinesh Garasia, 28, of Sirawal village.

According to the information provided, the rescued children belong to Bekariya village and were being illegally migrated to Krishna Restaurant in Rajkot for work.

The police team consisted of head constables Chote Khan, Shanti Lal and constable Mahipal, all from Goverdhan vilas Police Station and specially deployed to prevent forced child labour and human trafficking in the area.

“Investigations have started and we will continue more raids on the basis of information obtained though interrogation of the culprits”, said the ASI.
