Conmen Gets Active: Fake Gold ornaments sold for Rs.50000

Just a day after the sensational crackdown of fake currency racket in city, a case of fraud in the name of gold ornaments came to light today.

Mohammad Ibrahim ( in photo above) was conned today of Rs 50,000 when a suspected conman duped him by selling fake gold ornaments.

Ibrahim, who owns a flour mill at Mukherjee Chowk alleged that a man, Raju Prajapat, has allegedly cheated him. According to Ibrahim, Raju came to his shop few days ago to buy flour. After introducing himself as a building constructor he soon befriended him and started talking about few ‘real’ and expensive ornaments he had.

According to Ibrahim, Raju told him that he had few gold ornaments and rare silver currency of 18th century. Ibrahim showed interest in purchasing the same and the deal was done in Rs 1 Lac. However Ibrahim arranged only Rs.50000 and promised to pay rest of the amount soon.

Prajapat called him to a place at Pratapnagar with cash. Ibrahim gave the money and took the ornaments.

When Ibrahim took the ornaments to a local jeweler to test the purity of the same, they were found to be fake. Ibrahim has lodged police complaint against the accused.
