A notorious criminal Farooq alias Mirchi, resident of Balicha was arrested by Surajpol police on Tuesday at Paras Circle for having an illegal pistol in his possession. He was booked under various sections of Arms Act.

Farooq hails from Nibahera and had 13 cases registered against him. He was also wanted since a year in case of daylight firing, SHO Ramesh Kumara said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the police reacted upon a tip off of his whereabouts and searched for the accused near petrol pump at Paras Circle. The criminal tried to flee but was apprehended by the police. Whilst checking, he was found with a pistol that was confiscated, as per SHO.

The cops are interrogating him further about other weapons and suspects involved in the crime.
