One of the notorious criminals of the city was arrested on Wednesday with an illegal weapon in his possession. The police nabbed the accused near Nehru hostel in Hiran Magri area.

The accused identified as Shahzad alias Chini, resident of Amar Nagar Colony of Ambamata has a number of criminal cases registered on his name at various police stations. The accused tried to escape after seeing the cops coming towards him but after a bit chasing, he was arrested and booked under section 7/25, said Hiran Magri police.

The cops are now interrogating the accused of his motive of standing near the Nehru Hostel with an illegal weapon.
