A case of threatening for life over the demand of money was registered against the hardcore criminal of the city Azam Khan at Bhopalpura police station on Tuesday. The victim Sampat Mochi, owner of Gangaram Shoes situated at Shastri Circle lodged a complaint against him and his aid Shahjad alias Chini.

Sampat in his report to the police informed that the accused Azam and Shahjad went to his shop and threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over checks of Rs. 7 Lacs. Azam first sent his aid Chini to the victim’s shop demanding money but due to Sampat’s avoidance, Azam threatened him, said Bhopalpura police.

The incident occurred between Sampat and a property dealer of Gujarat relating to a piece of land. Sampat had received payment of Rs 7.5 Lac through check from the dealer which when deposited, got dishonored. Upon the information received of dishonored check, Sampat filed a case of fraud against the property dealer.

In between, Azam received the information of this matter after which he intervened to settle the matter between Sampat and Gujarat’s property dealer. When Sampat didn’t show any interest in his offer, Azam threatened him for his life against the checks, said police.

After the case got registered, the police came into action and started the investigation.

During the initial investigation it was found that Sampat, the shoe shop owner also deals in property business and had finalized a deal with the Gujarat’s property dealer in an amount of Rs. 7.5 Lacs. The dealer had given him two checks; one of Rs. 5 Lac and other of Rs. 2 Lac which later got dishonored, said police.
