The hitherto peaceful village of Chawand, 70 km from Udaipur changed into a strife torn area today morning, after an argument over a petty issue took shape of a bloody fight between two groups of people from the same village.

The hitherto peaceful village of Chawand, 70 km from Udaipur changed into a strife torn area today morning, after an argument over a petty issue took shape of a bloody fight between two groups of people from the same village. The atmosphere of the area got so tense that soon heavy police force was deployed on the spot to calm down the situation.

The argument erupted after a boy of one community went to a grocery in the village to purchase a packet of Pan Masala.  Soon a tussle between the shop keeper and the boy over currency change resulted in one of them getting slapped by the other.  A crowd gathered in no time and people from both communities crowded the area.  The shop keeper reported that the boy and his accomplice beat him up, reacting to which the police nabbed 5 people of beating the victim and destroying the inventory in his shop, as per Addl. SP HQ, Hanuman Prasad.

“The incidence took place at Matheshwari General Store, situated behind the Shiv temple in the village”, said DySP Sarada.

As per Hanuman Prasad, the situation in the area is normal but the police force has anyways been deployed in the area to ensure that there is no recurrence.
