Deputy Director of Agriculture conned by fake IAS officer
A deputy director of Agriculture Department has lodged report against unknown accused for taking Rs.49500 through a fake phone call pertaining to be a senior IAS officer.
A deputy director of Agriculture Department has lodged report against unknown accused for taking Rs.49500 through a fake phone call pertaining to be a senior IAS officer.
After depositing the amount, the accused again called him and demanded to deposit Rs.2 Lacs. After doing as said when the victim called the accused, he found it suspicious and immediately stopped the transaction.
The incident occurred with Ramesh Kumar Jaroli, Deputy Director at Agriculture Department.
Jaroli lodged report at Hathipol Police Station against unknown accused for the fraud of Rs.49500. He informed police that the suspected accused identified himself as Kuldeep Ranka, a senior IAS officer.
The caller said that, he has family emergency and requires Rs.50000 cash. Convinced by the conversation, Jaroli went to the bank but due to some regulations, he deposited Rs.49,500 and called the suspect for confirmation.
After few minutes, he again received call from the suspect and this time he demanded Rs.2 Lacs. Ramesh Jaroli again went to the bank and deposited the money in the said account number.
He called back the fake IAS officer for the confirmation but this time Jaroli found it suspicious, Jaroli soon realized that he became victim of fraud. He immediately approached police and bank officials and held the transaction.
In the initial investigation, police found that the accounts in IDBI bank are in the name of Neeraj Kumar and Santosh Vishvakarma. Police is investigating further to nab the accused.
