Three members of an Inter-State Gang were arrested yesterday from Udaipur and Bhillwara. Two of them were arrested from the home of a local doctor while they were attempting to bluff him into paying a huge sum to secure a fake Health Insurance policy.

The incident took effect after the Bhopalpura police was informed by Dr. Ajay Singh Chundawat of Sanjivani Hospital at Hiran Magri.

Dr. Ajay was called on Wednesday evening by a person named P. Ramesh, a South Indian, who assumed the false identity of R.N. Mathur, a Director of BSNL.

As per the police, Ramesh told Dr. Ajay that since BSNL had earned a record profit of Rs. 40 Crore, a few selected persons were being provided with a Health Insurance Policy.

Accordingly, Sanjivani Hospital was selected in Udaipur city and Dr. Ajay was being awarded a health insurance policy of Rs. 6 Crore, for which he had to pay Rs. 30 Lac to Ramesh as a commission.

Two persons, Brijesh s/o L.R. Tiwari, resident of Muzaffarnagar, Bihar and Pramod s/o Munna Sharma, resident of Gorakhpur, UP were nabbed by the police from the residence of Dr. Ajay, when the duo had gone to collect the amount. Dr. Ajay had earlier called the police when he found the deal to be fishy.

The third, and the plan mastermind, Ramesh had absconded by then. Further to interrogations of the arrested duo, it was found that the three were operating from Hotel Mamta Palace in Bhilwara.

The Udaipur police in association with the Bhilwara police nabbed Ramesh from Bhilwara itself last night.

On further interrogation, it was found that the gang consisted of nearly a dozen persons, who were effecting such fraud. Nearly seven such frauds were executed in Bhilwara, the police found on interrogation.

Ramesh, it was found, was using different individuals each time. He was paying 10% of total amount secured to these individuals and Rs 10000 to each caretaker, as per the police.

The entire exercise of nabbing these crooks took place under the guidance of SP Hariprasad Sharma and the team was led by RPS Subhash Mishra and Swati Sharma along with C.I. Satish Meena.
