The thieves targeted the house of the retired Deputy Director of Education Department Dr. Shyam Manohar Vyas and stole cash along with 6 Kg silver articles on Friday.

The owner of the house Dr. Vyas and his wife were in Mumbai at their son’s house since last 1 month. Their daughter Dr. Seema Upadhyay used to visit the house once on Saturday in a week but on Saturday morning, she received a call from the neighbors informing her about the theft.

She immediately rushed at her parental house and informed other relatives about the mishap. Later a team of Hathipol police also reached the scene and lodged an FIR prior to starting the investigation, Dr. Seema informed.

Seema further informed that the thieves stole various silver articles including silver plates, glasses, 70-80 silver coins and an amount of Rs. 40,000 from the almirah kept in the bedroom of her parents. Besides this they had attempted to break other almirahs of the house and also scattered the things in the kitchen of the house. But surprisingly the accused left a cash amount of Rs 20,000 untouched as they were wrapped in a cloth and couldn’t be recognized.

While talking about her father Seema added that he is a retired Deputy Director of the Education Department and also a renowned writer of the city.
