In another criminal activity which took place in the city today, an elderly man was conned by two people pretending to be policemen and looted his 2.5 tola gold chain after falsely convincing the victim to take out the chain and put it into a handkerchief.

This dramatic incidence of loot occurred today at 3:15pm near Sukhadia Circle.

According to the police, the victim, 70-year-old Chen Ram, owns a Juice counter at Sukhadia Circle. It was when 2 men came and ordered 2 glasses of juice saying ‘bade sahab ke liye juice banao’ (make two glasses of juice for our boss).

A few minutes later, they cancelled the order and one of them asked the old man to remove the gold chain and put it safely in his pocket, referring to the series of crimes going on in the city.

“They took out my chain, put it in my handkerchief, and gave the handkerchief back to me. They immediately left, and only afterwards I realized that the handkerchief did not contain the chain”, said Chen Ram, a resident of Shobhagpura.

He informed his son Dinesh, who was at his house for lunch during the mishap, who in turn immediately intimated the police. The Police rushed to the scene and launched a hunt to trap the culprits.
