Fake SIM Card being sold on Forged Documents, 3 Arrested

On a tip-off received by the Hiran Magri Police, three individuals were arrested today and have been accused of selling fake Mobile SIMs and making forged documents to facilitate selling the fake SIMs.

On a tip-off received by the Hiran Magri Police, three individuals were arrested today and have been accused of selling fake Mobile SIMs and making forged documents to facilitate selling the fake SIMs.

According Anant Kumar, Deputy North Zone, on information received from a source, Hiran Magri Police team raided RK Mobile Zone in Hiran Magri, Sector-4.  Over 500 fresh SIMs, documents and 349 fake Pre-PaidMobileSIMs were seized from the shop.

After the inquiry, in total three accused, namely Mayur (25) s/o Mahaveer Jain, owner of RK Mobile Zone; Kaushik Nasa s/o Gopal Nasa, owner of ESSAR Distributors and Murtaza Ali (22) s/o Mushtaq Ali, resident of Bhoiwada, were arrested.  The trio is allegedly involved in this procedure of issuing Fake Pre-Paid Mobile SIMs and making counterfeit documents.

After Police inquired with Kaushik, he explained their modus operandi as – Mayur used to take multiple photocopies of the documents given by customers who seek SIMs and then with the help of Murtaza the documents were forged.  Later, Kaushik used to send the relevant (fake) documents to the company for activating the SIM.  Mayur used to fill the company name as Silver Mobiles while issuing the fake SIMs.

Kaushik also informed, “We used to do this to meet our monthly targets”.  Selling one pre-paid SIM used to get them a Rs. 10 profit and Murtaza was paid Rs. 3000 to forge the documents for 1.5 months.

In total, 2500 fake SIMs were issued in the span of 1.5 months.  Police also seized more than 80 documents at ESSAR Distributors from their shop situated inMidtownCenter, Udiapol.

Police have lodged the case and are investigating the case for more information.
