In an operation that started last night on 5th June, the Bhopalpura Police has arrested four people from different areas of the city and in the bargain has seized 92,150 fake currency notes.

The main accused and mastermind in the fake notes racket, 31-year-old Ramlal Meghwal, resident of Ambaveri, Dabok was arrested along with his three associates, Vishnu Khatik (27), resident of Balicha; Chatar Singh (35), resident of Bhatiyani Chohatta and Laxman Lal Gameti (32), resident of Balicha.

On getting information about the racket, a Police team under the directions of the Superintendent of Police, first arrested Vishnu Khatik. Subsequent to being arrested and interrogated, Vishnu disclosed the name of Laxmanlal Gameti and after this arrest was made, they disclosed the name of Ramlal Meghwal the kingpin. Chatar Singh was arrested soon after Meghwal was brought under the stick.

On checking the houses of all the accused, the Police found 23800 fake notes of 100, 500 and 1,000 Rupees denomination from Vishu Khatik’s house. 7,150 fake notes were recovered from the house of Laxmanlal Gameti and 29,100 notes from the house of Ramlal Meghwal along with the three sheets on which notes templates of Rs. 100 were printed. Other equipment including a computer, printer, print paper, scanner, etc. were also seized from Meghwals house. When the Police went on to search Chatar Singh’s house, they found 32,100 fake notes.

On interrogation, it was discovered that this racket was started by Ramlal Meghwal, who earlier used to run a photography shop at Lodha Complex in 2007-08 but faced losses in the business. Meghwal then started working from home and got the idea of using designing software to make fake currency notes. He first used to scan real currency notes and then make true copies of it.

The Police will present all the accused in court tomorrow.
