Fraud in Police Canteen: Report lodged against three Policemen

A case of alleged fraud is registered against three policemen for committing fraud of more than Rs.18 Lac rupees from the fund allotted for managing police canteen.

 

A case of alleged fraud is registered against three policemen for committing fraud of more than Rs.18 Lac rupees from the fund allotted for managing police canteen.

All the accused were appointed as in charge of canteen from year 2002 to 2007. The fraud came to light on Sunday when an audit was held following the complaint of fraud.

According to Dy.S.P East zone, Goverdhan Lal, “A report is lodged against Head Constables Prithvi Singh, retired policemen Pitamber & Head Constable Rameshwar Lal at Surajpol Police Station.”

All three of them were allegedly involved in doing fraud from the amount allotted by the department for the purchase of ration.

During the investigation, it came out that Prithvi Singh in his tenure did fraud of around Rs.18,17,117 , Pitamber did fraud of Rs. 50, 617 & H.C Rameshwar did fraud of Rs. 56,117. Pitamber Lal is already retired from the department.

Dy. S.P Goverdhan further informed that when matter reached to Inspector General of police, it was decided that the amount will be deducted from their salaries. A case has been registered at Surajpol police station under direction of I.G. The investigation is started.
