In order to come down heavily on car thieves, the SP Udaipur, Ajay Pal Lamba has got his team to round up possible suspects and history sheeters in this area of activity.

Sonu Chauhan (28), resident of Savina Slum Colony is one such suspect who has been interrogated by the police and during interrogation, has confessed to having stolen around 8 four-wheelers from different areas. He seems to be a part of an interstate gang who operate in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Further interrogation of Sonu has revealed that post stealing the vehicle, he along with his accomplice, Ashfaq Khan (27), resident of Indira Colony, Goverdhan Vilas sold the automobiles. The police started a manhunt for Ashfaq and finally managed to nab him, and have charged him with the thefts.

As per the Police, Sonu confessed that he stole a black Safari Car from a village situated 14 km away from Bhilwada, which he sold with the help of Ashfaq.

After a month of this theft, he picked up a white colored Bolero Car from the Sabzi Mandi of Bhilwada. Within 20 days he stole another white Bolero Car from a dhaba (roadside eatery) situated on the Mandsor Highway and along with this, they stole a silver colored Bolero car from the parking lot of Jawra Station, M.P.

One of the stolen Bolero cars was left midway by them at the Ranakpur Valley, when the vehicle rolled over. This was stolen by him with the help of another accomplice from Husain Tekri, Jawra and they were on their way to sell it.

Adding to their list of car thefts, a Jeep was stolen from Ratlam and in just 6-7 days another Bolero car was stolen from Rajsamand and sold at Nagor, M.P. Another Bolero stolen from Bhilwara was sold off at Jodhpur.

All three accused were arrested from near the Railway Bridge at Sector 11 today on the information provided by sources to the Surajpol Police. This clamp down happened whrn the trio was trying to sell the engine of a stolen Red colored Bolero car to a man identified as Vinod Prajapat, resident of Nahar Magra, Dabok.

The accused was arrested by the team consisting of Circle Inspector Buraj Singh Bhati, Ram Narayan, Fateh Singh, Itwari Lal, Bhodh Narayan, Akhileshwar, Sukhdev, Jagdish, Dharmendra, Tej Singh, and Mehtab Singh.

This team was working under the directions of DySP Goverdhan Lal Khatik.
