A doctor of MB Hospital was arrested by Special Unit of Anti Corruption Bureau outside his clinic, situated at Goverdhan Vilas on Friday. He was caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 2000 from a victim against operation of his mother and had already taken Rs. 1000 in advance.

The accused was identified as a gynecologist working at Panna Dhay unit of MB Hospital who had demanded Rs. 5000 from the victim, resident of Badgaon for operating his mother, said Additional Special Unit ACB Umesh Ojha.

Ojha said that the victim had met the doctor on 6^th Feb in regards to his mother’s operation. The accused said that if she were to be operated in a private hospital, it would cost him Rs. 25,000 which he would readily do in the price of Rs. 5000. After finalizing the deal, the accused doctor took Rs. 1000 as an advance.

After operating the victim’s mother on 9^th February, the doctor started demanding the rest of the money from the victim who in turn filed a complaint against him at the SCB special unit.

Upon the verification of the complaint received by the unit, they caught the accused outside his clinic where he was taking the bribe amount of Rs. 2000 from the victim, said Additional SP of ACB.

In the initial investigation it was found that the accused doctor hails from Banswara and was working as a government doctor for the last 28 years and served at various government hospitals. The ACB team also found an amount of Rs. 1.5 Lacs cash, gold & silver ornaments along with property documents at his house, situated at sector 5, Hiran Magri.

The names of the accused doctor and the victim is kept undisclosed.
