Hate-Crimes rise at CTAE College Hostel
A group of students from College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE) has demanded strict legal actions against few of the students from same college, who allegedly abused and attacked the students of specific community.
A group of students from College of Technology and Agriculture Engineering (CTAE) has demanded strict legal actions against few of the students from same college, who allegedly abused and attacked the students of specific community.
Students complained that none of the accused students were detained by the police even after lodging FIR in related police stations.
Today, in support of the victims of alleged hate-crimes, students presented an application letter to all higher officials of MPUAT, Police and Media. Copies of FIRs are also attached with the letter.
According to the FIR, two incidents of assault were registered in last few days. In first incident, that took place on 19 Aug, at 11pm the applicant Ramji Lal Meena was allegedly attacked by 12 people, Ramji 21-year-old student of B.E 3rd year lodged complaint against five people for abusing with racist remarks and beating him. The case was registered at Pratap Nagar Police Station.
On the very next day on August 20, at midnight, allegedly the same accused students came to M.B. Hostel and abused second year students Rinku Lal Meena and Leeladhar Meena and a third year student, Mohar Singh Meena and intimidated them that, “they will be again beaten if Bhupendra Kumar Meena files a police complaint”.
According to students, such racist incidents are not new in campus and to keep a check on such incidents college administration has also made a disciplinary committee. But, students said that, “they are forced to take back their written and verbal complaints in the meetings of this committee”.
Students also accused one of the professors of electrical department, of abusing, unnecessarily punishing and inflaming students of other caste against these students.
