To enhance the public security measures in the city, Police Department reformed their patrolling vehicles ‘Hawk’ with increase in the numbers and equipped with some new functions with better coordination.

The service was disclosed in a meeting held today by S.P Mahesh Kumar Goyal at Police Conference Hall, Police Line. Ad. SP (City) Laxman Singh Rathore, Ad.S.P (District) Sudhir Joshi and all DYSPs were present in the meeting.

S.P Mahesh Kumar Goyal informed that the numbers of hawk vehicles have been increased to 10 now; previously there were only 4 hawks in the city.

He said that, all the vehicles will patrol 24 hours in their particular police station areas; however the hawks will be controlled by Police Control Room.

Every hawk vehicle will have 3-4 policemen, said S.P Goyal. The policemen were constantly connected to the control room on wireless.

Goyal also informed that, Hawk will have new multi siren facility including the sirens of Fire Brigade and Ambulance which will help in escorting emergency service vehicles during any mishap.

According to the S.P, the idea is adopted from Delhhi Police Department.

Informing more about the Hawk, S.P Goyal said, “Priority of hawk is to reach the incident spot quickly and to quickly join by the additional force from concerned Police Station, if needed”.

Although the police personnel in hawk will not be equipped with firearms but are trained enough to initially control the situation, S.P informed local media.

He also said that, every hawk vehicle will have name of the police station and phone number of control room. Besides this, two motorcycles ‘Alpha’ will continue patrolling from morning 6 to 11 at night.

Citizens can call control room to ask assistance of hawk. Control room will direct the hawk to the address provided by citizen.

“Installing CCTV cameras on roads will be our next target” said S.P

Hopefully, new methods of policing will keep the citizens safe and will impede growing number of criminal activities in the city.
