Almost all the savings of 55-year-old Basant Kumar Masih, resident of Anand Vihar, Hiran Magri Sector- 4 have been stolen while he and his family were out of the city for a few days.

The Masihs returned back on the evening of 16^th April from Indore and found their house completely ransacked.

Jewelry and ornaments worth nearly Rs.10 Lakh and Rs. 40,000 cash were found missing from the house of Basant Kumar who is working as a Mine Fitter at Hindustan Zinc, Dariba.

“We went to Indore on 14 April to meet our daughter who is a medical student at Christian Hospital, Indore. When we returned back on the 16^th we found the cupboards in our bedroom were open and all valuables, jewelry and cash were stolen” said Kumar.

The FIR was lodged last night at the Hiran Magri Police station. According to Basant Kumar, there was 30 Tola of Gold and 500 gm. Silver ornaments including Rs. 40,000 cash.

According to police, there were no sign of forced entry at the main gate of the house, but there was another wooden door opening into the hall, which was found broken. “The thieves might have entered from the backside of the house and broken the small door to get inside,” said an investigating officer.

Basant Kumar lives in the company’s provided residence at Dariba and used to visit his family every weekend. He, with his wife and son went to Indore to meet their daughter and do some shopping for their son’s upcoming engagement ceremony.
