Rs. 30 Lac worth of illegal liquor was seized by the Goverdhan Vilas Police today morning.

Acting on a tip, the CI of Goverdhan Vilas Police station, BadriLal and ASI, Paras Malwent reached Balicha Bypass and set up a check point there.  When the truck came to the checkpost, the driver was asked for the papers, and he Showed a document stating that the truck contained refined oil.  The Police searched the vehicle and eventually it was found to contain 978 Cartons of illegally shipped liquor, mostly Beer and English Liquor.

The driver, Rocky, alias Rakesh Dhanka, resident of Divani, Haryana was arrested immediately and in initial interrogation, he confessed that, he was transporting the liquor from Chandigarh to Kalupur in Ahmedabad.

He also informed the Police that, another vehicle was escorting the truck, but on seeing the Police, the escort fled away from the scene.

The vehicle and liquor have been taken into custody by the Police, till further investigations are carried out.
