In what could be said as one of the biggest crackdown of illegal liquor smuggling across states, Udaipur Police has confiscated a huge consignment of liquor estimated to be worth nearly Rs.50 lakh. Police has also arrested two men in connection of the smuggling which took place on night of 13th Dec.

SHO Dabok Police Virendra Singh Adda informed that a truck carrying 943 cartons of liquor, which was transporting from Haryana to Gujarat was caught at Dabok Circle during checking, the market value of the consignment is around Rs.50 Lakhs, the boxes and the vehicle are seized and two men were arrested who are identified as Ran Singh of Haryana (Driver) and Jaldhir Singh of Jhunjunu.

Police has received information that a container truck is passing through Udaipur containing illegal liquor, SHO Singh has lodged a barricading at Dabok area, later the police spotted a container truck heading towards them but seeing the cops truck driver tried to escape, but after chasing them for few meters police has nabbed the truck and liquor was seized.

Both the accused are booked under the charges of supplying illegal liquor and they are still under interrogation informed police.

Rajasthan is always used as a bridge between Haryana and Gujarat for the illicit liquor trade as Gujarat is a dry state and most of the liquor is made in Haryana.
