An alleged fraud of Rs. 11 Crore worth of gold ornaments has been reported at Ghantaghar Police Station against Manohar Mehta, one of the directors of Satramdas Gehrilal Jewelers Private Limited.
The report against Mehta is lodged by three other directors of the company, the company used to own two showrooms named Parmatma Jewelers and Mangalam Jewelers in Udaipur.
According to the Asha Mehta and Arun Mehta, the directors of the company, one of the shop Parmatma Jewelers was shut down in Aug 2006 due to certain disagreement between directors; hence the stock of 39 kilo and 150 grams of gold was transferred to Mangalam Jewelers.
On November 2011 when the other directors went to Mangalam Jewelers and inspected the stock, the gold which was transferred from Parmatma Jewelers was not shown in the stock; instead Manohar Mehta showed only 2362 gram silver and 5800 gram gold.
Asha Mehta and Arun Mehta have alleged that Manohar Mehta deceived them in handling the stock worth crores of rupees.
The three directors of the company lodged police complaint against Manohar Mehta in 2011, but since no action was taken against the accused, Asha and Arun Mehta reached Police Superintendent Hari Prasad Sharma today and appealed for swift investigation in the case.
S.P. Sharma has instructed concerned police station to re start the investigation.
