Hundreds of people from a particular community ransacked the house of the rape accused and their relatives at Lakadwas. More than 8-9 houses were torched by the angry mob which also damaged vehicles and house appliances while the residents ran away towards forest.

The angry crowd had gathered at Lakadwas today morning at around 9am and planned the attack on families of Kalbeliya and their houses. At the time of attack, there were only women and children in the houses.

The mob allegedly assaulted the running victims and a teenage girl also accused few unknown men for molesting her.

According to an eye witness, the rioters were laden with rods, sticks and swords.

The attack is said to be done by the community members of the victim woman who was raped by a man from Kalbeliya community on 23rd June. The accused Heeralal Kalbeliya and his associate were arrested on 25th June and sent to judicial custody.

However the angry community people decided to take revenge from the kalbeliyas and attacked their houses today.

Seeing the situation, police force of three police stations were deployed in the area with additional force of MBC to bring situation under control. Police detained 27 people under 151 IPC.

The women victims told police that during the attack they had sent their children to jungle and came back to protect their houses. “We will go to jungles and search for our children now,” a woman said while weeping.

All victim families are relatives of the accused Heeralal and Vijay. One of the uncles of Heeralal said, “This attack was all planned and even the allegation of rape is also a conspiracy.”

Inspector General of Police G.N Purohit visited the houses of victims and inspected the situation. District Collector Ashutosh Pednekar, ADM City Mohammad Yasin Pathan and Ad S.P of city and head quarters, SHOs of Pratap Nagar, Hiran Magri and Goverdhan Vilas also visited the area.

All 27 people were produced before magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
