A 21-year-old girl was stabbed to death by a man after she refused his proposal. The shocking incident took place today at 4:25pm at DudhTalai. The accused has been caught by locals of the area and handed over to police.

The victim RekhaKalbeliya, resident of 80 feet Road MullaTalai was professional dancer at Hotel Lake Palace and was working in the hotel for past several years.

The accused is identified as DilipNath (25), resident of Jodhpur and was said to be following Rekha from past 2 years.

Today when Rekha accompanied by three of her co-dancers reached near Badi Paal Gate to take a boat to Hotel Lake Palace. The accused Dilip attacked her and stabbed seven times on her back and other parts of the body. Hearing her cries, other people of the area rushed to save the victim and caught the accused.

The girl was rushed to hospital in a critical state. She succumbed to her injuries during treatment. People of the area handed over the accused to police after thrashing him badly.

According to Sheranath,elder brother of victim, Rekha was married but due to social custom she was presently living with her parents. She showcased her dance skills in various countries and was scheduled to perform in Milan, Italy in March.

Her brother also informed that the accused DilipNath first met Rekha two years back in a family function at Jodhpur and proposed her but she rejected his proposal.

Dilip continued to follow her in Udaipur and was also warned by girl’s family.

The accused is booked under section 302 and send to police custody.
