Pratap Nagar police succeeded in seizing 73 cartons of illegal liquor worth Rs.10 Lakhs in a checking at Highway on Friday Morning. The consignment was loaded in a tempo traveller. The vehicle is shifted to the police station while the search of the accused driver and another car escorting the mini bus is still going on. According to police, on early Friday morning police received an information about a suspected Tempo Traveller (Mini Bus) carrying smuggled liqour in it, during the checking at Pratap Nagar Circle police team spotted a Scorpio car and mini bus heading towards them, instead of stopping at the police barricade, the car increased its speed and allegedly tried to hit the police team and passed away with the bus. After a few minutes of chase, driver of the Tempo Traveller left the bus near the power house of Gudli Industrial Area and fled away from the scene, said Station House Officer of Pratap Nagar Manjeet Singh. Upon checking the bus, 72 cartons of Haryana made liquor found hidden under the seats. A case of assault and smuggling of liquor is registered against the unknown accused drivers of bus and the car, we have found some important clues about the suspects and they will be arrested soon, SHO Singh added.
