A group of goldsmiths protested outside the Ghanta Ghar Police station today and demanded strict action against people of a particular community for creating ruckus in their area.

The protestors also demanded strict action against the accused group for an alleged assault which took place on 7^th March.

The protestors under the banner of Shree Meir Kshatriya Swarnkar Samaj asked administration to investigate about the legalities of the community that belongs to West Bengal. Goldsmiths of the area doubt that the particular community is living unlawfully and might be involved in several illegal activities.

Ghanta Ghar is a well known center of jewelry trading and goldsmiths. Other than the local jewelers who are in majority, many small communities from West Bengal are also residing in the same area from last few decades and this raises competition for local jewelers.

Last night, police arrested two people for assaulting a local jeweler. Since then, the atmosphere of the area is tense.

Some of the local jewelers met Deputy S.P Goverdhanlal Khatik and expressed their concern. The police officer has assured them to conduct thorough investigation of the case.
