A middle aged woman died on Monday night at Sayra village after her husband attacked her with a stone and smashed her head after a quarrel with her. The accused husband attacked his wife in a drunken state, who was later caught by the police from nearby village.

Mohini Bai of Sayra succumbed to her injures on Monday night after her husband Mona Kalbelia smashed her head with a stone after having an argument with her. Mohini and her husband were staying at her son’s house as the couple was having a prolonged argument between them.

Last night accused Mona went to his son’s house to bring back Mohini home when the scene got ugly as she denied returning. The accused man who was allegedly in a drunken state became violent and hit her head with a stone. The injuries were so severe that she succumbed to them after few minutes.

The accused somehow managed to flee from the scene as his handicap son could not catch him. Upon information, Sayra police launched a hunt to catch the accused and shifted the dead body to the mortuary, said SHO Leela Dhar.

Leela Dhar further informed that after putting hours of efforts, the accused was finally arrested.
