An incidence of assault took place at Chokla Bazar area under Dhan Mandi police station of the city where a history sheeter Iqbal was allegedly attacked by another history sheeter Imran Kunjara and his associates following a property dispute. Iqbal was attacked with sword and two of his associates also sustained injures when they tried to intervene. Sources said that few bullets were also fired during the incidence.

The incidence occurred on Wednesday morning at 10 when Iqbal was getting ready for his routine work at his house at Chokla Bazar of Mukherji Chowk area. Suddenly the accused Imran and his aides Ashfaq, Mohammed Hussain, Goga, Saddam Kankroli, Adil Husain and few others broke into Iqbal’s house and hit him with sharp weapons. The victim got hurt in one of his hands and two other men also sustained injured in an attempt to save Iqbal, said Iqbal.

The Accused also attacked the family members of the victim including his kids, victim added.

While talking to media Iqbal further added that he was targeted by the key accused Imran and his men in connection with a pieces of land situated at Thokar Choraha area (2600 Sqft). The land was possessed by one of employees of Iqbal and the accused wanted to forcefully acquire it. They believed that the man was getting support of Iqbal for not handing over the possession to Imran, following that Imran targeted Iqbal on Wednesday and fled from the scene.

Soon after the incidence, a team of Dhan Mandi police rushed to the scene and started the investigation of the matter and shifted the injured to MB hospital for treatment.

Station house officer Dhan Mandi police station Ratan Chawla said that a report of assault has been lodged but it’s not yet clear that whether the bullets were fired or not; it is a part of investigation.
