Following a petty argument, a man resident of Pathar Peti village indulged in a gruesome act by killing his 42-year old wife with a sledgehammer on her head. The accused husband fled from the scene after the crime.

The incidence occurred on Wednesday afternoon when accused Kalia Lakhumbara returned to his house from the market and within minutes had an argument with his wife over a petty issue. The annoyed man took the hammer and hit his wife Jamana’s head causing severe injuries. The victim died on the spot while the husband fled, as per the information by SHO Ranjeet Singh.

Soon a team of Kotda police station rushed to the crime scene for investigation and learnt that the argument started when Kalia’s wife refused to serve him a glass of water which turned into a brawl. At the time of incidence, the children of the couple were also present in the house but before they could intervene, the husband had attacked the wife, added SHO.

The search for the absconding husband is still on while the dead body was shifted for postmortem.
