A man was booked under charges of murder on Tuesday after he beat his step sister to such an extent that she died during treatment.

The unfortunate episode occurred on 23rd January when the accused Dhuliya Gameti of Niyala Village beat his own sister Verdi Bai (27) fatally and fled away from the scene leaving her severely injured.  She was rushed to MB hospital by her relatives who went to the scene a few hours later.

However, the wounds were such that on 27th January she succumbed to her injuries while being treated.  Her body was shifted to mortuary for postmortem and the accused was booked under charges of murder.

During investigation of the matter, it came to light that Verdi Bai of Niyala Village (under Sukher police station circle) was married to Heera Lal a few years ago, but one and a half months back she eloped with another man Shankar Lal Gameti of Bedla.

A few days back Verdi was brought back by her parents to their house whilst planing to sought out the matter and send her back to her husband’s house.

However, before her parents could resolve the issue, Verdi’s step brother Dhuliya, who was unhappy with her relation with Shankar Lal took her to Kamli village at a house and hammered her badly.  After assault, the accused fled away from the scene leaving her with fatal injures, which eventually led to her death.

The hunt for the accused is underway.
