70 armed tribal are detained by the police today for demanding Mautana and attempting to attack the in laws of a deceased woman who died due to burn injuries.

70 armed tribal are detained by the police today for demanding Mautana and attempting to attack the in laws of a deceased woman who died due to burn injuries.

On 20th feb, a 55-year-old woman from Pai Village died after she set herself on fire. Soon her relatives from Falasiya Village got the information of mishap and around 300-400 tribal, many of them laced with weapons reached Pai Village and demanded Mautana (compensation) alleging that the victim was murdered by her in laws.

Today the situation turned tense when the tribal attacked villagers of Pai by pelting stones. The villagers escaped to the nearby hills.

Upon  getting the information a large number of police was deployed on the spot that later controlled the situation with mild Lathi Charge, at least 70 people were also detained under section 384 of IPC  for demanding Mutana and for attacking the innocent villagers, said Dysp Ranu Sharma.
