A member of interstate vehicle lifting gang was arrested on Monday from Goverdhan villas. The arrested accused has accepted lifting 20-25 four wheelers with his associates and falsely selling them in the market with fake registration certificate.

A member of interstate vehicle lifting gang was arrested on Monday from Goverdhan villas. The arrested accused has accepted lifting 20-25 four wheelers with his associates and falsely selling them in the market with fake registration certificate.

The accused came in the hands of police on Monday during a barricading at Chunginaka circle of Goverdhan Vilas after getting a tipoff about him. The accused was rounded up by the team of Special Task Force and Goverdhan Vilas Police who confiscated a motor bike from him on the spot, said police.

The the accused was identified as Anil Gayri of Jhadol village who confessed that whenever he used to come to Udaipur from his village, he used to lift motor bike from various areas of the city, consume the fuel and after empty tank, used to leave the bike anywhere. Anil confessed that the bike confiscated from him by the cops was lifted from housing board colony, sector 14.

Anil further revealed that besides picking  two wheelers,  he along with is associates Shahid of Jharkhand, Mustafa Ali of Kolkata, Guddu Sharma of Kolkata, Bahrat Vaishnav of Jhalor and Teja of Gujarat have committed a  number of four wheeler lifting incidences at various cities of states including Maharashtra, W.Bengal and Gujarat, said police.

Police also added that during interrogation it came out in light that he and his gang members used to lift luxurious cars from various states and sell them in the market by installing fake license plate and fake registration certificates. Police has succeeded in getting the names of few contractors involved in the racket and is making efforts to arrest others involved.
