A resident of Tidi Village near Zawar Mines was arrested on accusations sexually torturing and raping a minor girl, who is also a resident of Tidi village.

As per the Surajpol Police, who have arrested the accused Mangla Ram Meena, the 16 year old girl had been kept hostage in a room in Palanpur for 5 months and was sexually tortured and allegedly raped by the accused several times while she was kept at Palanpur.

In what seems to be a case of kidnapping, the girl was taken by the accused, who is also the girls neighbor, from the Mahila Mandal hostel where she was staying, on the pretext of meeting her mother at Palanpur.

On reaching Palanpur the accused kept the girl hostage in a room. During this period since January 2013, where she was tortured, she was unable to contact her family.

Finally one fine day, she was able to make a call using a mobile phone, and she informed her parents. Her parents then informed the Surajpol police, who subsequently nabbed the kidnapper and rescued the girl.

The police have kept the accused in judicial custody till further action is taken.
