Just a day after the protest lodged by the wife of Devilal Gameti, who was missing from past seven days, police found the body of the victim in a partially mutilated condition today. Interestingly, the body was found just 500m away from the Sukher Police Station.

Police has lodged the case of murder and started the investigation. However, the community members and relatives of the victim allege negligence of police in finding the victim.

Devilal Gameti, 40, a gardener at UMC was missing since 24th Nov. On the same day he was detained under section 151 CRPC by the police for consuming liquor in public place but later released on bail after few hours of detention.

But when Devlilal didn’t reach home even after a day, his wife Shanta Devi lodged a missing person complaint on 24th Nov.

Seeing no helpful response from the police, Shanta Devi approached district collector on 28th Nov and appealed for quick action.

Today morning few locals of the area saw the body wrapped in a blanket on the backside of Witty International School, Sukher and informed the police. Senior police officials Adsp city Lakhman Singh, Dysp (west) Anant Kumar and SHO and C.I of Sukher, Hathipol and Ambamata police station reached on the spot.

Prima Facie, it is a case of alleged murder as few wounds on neck of the victim were seen and also some blood spots on the clothes. It is also assumed that the body is three day old and is probably mutilated by wild animals, as per police.
