The atmosphere of the Chidiyavaas Village of Banswada District got tensed on Wednesday morning when a shocking incidence of a mother and her minor daughter getting burnt alive came in light. The relatives of the victims claimed that they were allegedly burnt to death by the in laws over the demand of dowry.

The parents of the deceased woman and her relatives accumulated outside the mortuary of the General Hospital of Banswara and staged a protest following their demand to arrest victim woman’s in laws and to take strict legal action against them. Later the situation was controlled by the police team that rushed to the scene.

The victim woman Indira and 9 year old daughter died after getting burnt at their house on Wednesday morning. The incident came in light after her husband spotted both the victims and shouted for help from the villagers who came for rescue. But before much could be done, the victims got severely burnt and died on the spot. The dead bodies were shifted to mortuary while the room was locked for investigation, SHO Surendra Singh Bhati informed.

According to Bhati in the initial investigation of the matter it was found that the victim Indira and her husband had an argument with each other on Tuesday night after which the victims Indira and her daughter slept inside their house whereas husband went to sleep outside the house.

Bhati further added that as per Jitendra Bhatt, victim woman’s brother, after few months of their marriage Indira and her husband started having arguments with each other and her in laws started torturing her for dowry.

The relatives of victims also alleged that Indira and her minor daughter were killed by their in laws as they failed to meet their dowry demands, SHO said.

The villagers informed the police that the victim woman and her husband Ramesh both were married to their partners but after coming in contact with each other they left their partners and got married to each other, police added.

The postmortem of the dead bodies of the duo has been conducted and the bodies were handed over to their relatives, the investigation of the matter is still on, said SHO.
