Two people were arrested today by Pratap Nagar Police under the charges of allegedly raping a woman, resident of Badi Sadri on the night of 23^rd June.

Both accused Heeralal Kalbelia and his cousin Vijay Kalbelia, resident of Lakadwas were arrested from University Road, near Saraswati Hospital. Heeralal is the main accused of rape while Vijay is believed to be attempted the crime.

Heeralal is part time auto driver and used to ferry the auto from city to the suburban areas. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he raped the 25-year-old woman in the auto which he parked near a devra.

Adsp City, Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj told media personnel that the investigating team was hunting for the suspect and trying to find Heeralal Meghwal, the name was given by the victim woman.

Around 60 rickshaw drivers were interrogated with the help of RTO officials who ferry on the route going to and from Lakadwas but nobody knew anyone named Heeralal Meghwal. However, a source informed that there is a man named Heeralal Kalbeliya who runs auto on the same route.

When police reached Kalbeliya’s house he absconded but he got caught today along with his associate Vijay.

The accused informed police that, they took the victim woman from Savina Mandi. At that time, there were 10 more passengers in the auto but after dropping all to their respective destinations, Heeralal took Vijay with him and rode towards Bagdarra Colony, Lakadwas and raped her in an isolated place.

When the victim woman resisted, both accused left her and fled away. The woman was found lying in semi conscious state by the villagers who later informed police.

Adsp City, Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj informed that the victim is resident of a village in Chittorgarh district and often comes to Udaipur to visit a Devra of her ancestors.

SHOs of Surajpol, Bhopalpura and Pratapnagar with Special Police Unit under the direction of Dy.S.P Goverdhan Lal jointly investigated the case and succeeded in nabbing the accused.

Now police is trying to recover the auto rickshaw.
