Hiran Magri police arrested a habitual offender with an illegal pistol and a live bullet (mouser) today from the VIP colony of sector 9 of Hiran Magri area. The pistol has been seized and the accused is booked under the section of Arms Act.

The accused identified as Gopal Alias Vijay Kharol (30) has around 11 police cases registered on his name including Murder, Attempt of Murder, Assault, Kidnapping etc. at Nai and Ambamata police station.

In the primary interrogation, Kharol informed the police that the pistol which was found in his custody was given to him by Naresh Harijan.

The arrest of the accused was a part of the drill launched by the S.P in the whole city to arrest all such people dealing in illegal arms. In relation to that, different teams of police were made by the S.P under the supervision of the ADSp city Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj.

Today when the Hiran Magri police team got the tipoff that a suspect was seen at VIP colony carrying an illegal weapon with him, the team forwarded it to their DYSp Gverdhan Lal and according to his directions they performed their task and nabbed the accused, said Police.

Seeing the police heading towards him, the accused tried to escape but he was followed by the team and was finally caught. Now police is interrogating him for the details about the network of illegal weapon so that more people dealing in this trade can be arrested.
