A resident of Mukherjee Chowk, was arrested yesterday for stealing precious ornaments and Rs. 40 thousand cash from the house at Verma Nagar, sector -9, Hiran Magri, on the night of 25^th January.

The accused Akhtar Ali alias Ashu, resident of Kothio ki Gwari, Mukherjee Chowk, was arrested and confessed to break-in into Abid Ali’s house, when Ali’s family was out to attend religious function.

According to the police, during investigation, it came to know that a man identified as Akhtar Ali was seen roaming around Abid Ali’s house several times. “We zeroed on Akhtar’s movement and detained him yesterday. During interrogation, he confessed the crime”, said an investigating officer.

Police is trying to recover all stolen items from the accused. Police also confirmed several other cases being registered on Akhtar Ali’s name at various police stations.
