Police has arrested a teenage girl and her boyfriend for committing theft at the house of Dr. Atulabh Vajpai.
The accused boy and girl were caught on CCTV cameras installed by the police team investigating the case. Police has detained both and recovered the stolen money.
According to the authorities, the first incident of theft occurred on 19th May when Dr. Vajpai and his wife were out at some relative’s place. After discovering the theft, the couple approached the police and lodged the complaint. Police started the investigation keeping domestic workers as suspects but later, it was found that they are not involved in the crime.
The investigation was later taken over by Dhanmandi SHO Rajendra Jain. During investigation, another incident of theft occurred on 4th July, creating the suspicion that the thieves both know their victims and are inexperienced.
Jain ordered the installation of CCTV cameras at various places of the house and also changed locks. On 12th July, Dr. Vajpayee’s wife Dr. Manisha recognized the girl in the CCTV footage as their neighbor’s daughter.
Police detained the girl and, upon initial interrogation, she revealed name of her boyfriend. The girl is a student of 12th standard while the boy is a student of a private college. Both belong to well-to-do families.
Police have recovered Rs.3 Lac cash from the accused while 1 Lac rupees were spent by the girl on clothes and cosmetics.
