Police Detained Innocents: Muslim Mahasabha

Members of Muslim Mahasabha presented today a memorandum to the Udaipur Divisional Commissioner, Subodh Kumar Agrawal and expressed their concern on the 13th April communal clashes at Mulla Talai and nearby areas of the city over an anti-religious remark on facebook.

Activists of Muslim Mahasabha alleged that police has forcibly detained innocent people of particular community from their homes and booked them under false accusations, some are even booked under Section 307 of IPC.

Moreover, the activists claimed that police has not taken any action against the accused who made the anti religious remark on social networking website. It was the remark that sparked the violence wherein several people from both communities received injuries in the clash that continued whole day.

Alleging partiality of police administration and doubting political conspiracy, activists demanded investigation of clashes by CID and appealed to release innocents.

They also named two top police officials for encouraging communal hatred and being partial.

During the meeting, a man, father of a college going teenager informed media that his son was detained by police, while he was at home during clashes. He claimed his son innocent, but due to police’s action he and his family faced embarrassment. Moreover, his son’s career is at risk.
