Police Seizes Gutkha Worth Rs. 13 Lac

In one of the biggest operation to check illegal selling of Gutkha, since it was banned in the State few months back, Udaipur police in the joint operation led by Food and Safety Department, seized gutkha worth Rs. 13 Lac in two different raids executed today.

Police Seizes Gutkha Worth Rs. 13 LacIn one of the biggest crackdowns on illegal selling of Gutkha since it was banned in the State few months back, the Udaipur police under the joint effort led by Food and Safety Department, seized Gutkha worth Rs. 13 Lac in two different raids executed today.

The officials seized more than 4 lac pouches of Gutkha in the raid at Sector 4, Hiran Magri and confiscated 35,000 pouches from Nada Khada area of the city.

According to police, the raid was in response to information received by the department, on a large quantity of Gutkha being stored in a godown located at Hiran Magri Sector 4.

Two persons, Lalit and Lokesh were penalized and booked under the Food and Safety Standard Act.

The Police team, including Subash Mishra, DYSP and Kailash Khatik, C.I Hiran Magri Police Station raided the godown and found 4,50,121 pouches of Vimal And Taal Gutka.

Anil Bhardwaj, Food & Safety officer was also present during the operation.  The market value of Gutkha seized at Hiran Magri is estimated at Rs. 12 lac.

In another raid carried out in the old city area of Nada Khada, a team under the direction of Hariprasad Sharma, S.P. and R. N. Bairwa, CMHO raided D.M. Marketing and seized more than thirty thousand pouches of Gutka (Vimal); the market value is estimated at Rs. 1 Lac.
