The Prime accused of property dealer Dilip Chittora’s broad day light murder was arrested by the police on Tuesday from the city railway station. The accused was on run since 21st November after attacking the victim and police had announced a reward on his name.

Chotu Lal Meena, the key accused of Chittora’s murder conspiracy was nabbed by Sukher police team in a raid at the city railway station and was rushed to the police station.

During the police interrogation the accused revealed that after his wife’s suicide he was constantly threatened by Dilip for life. To take the revenge of his wife’s suicide and to protect himself from Dilip Chittora, he brought a pistol to kill him. Following that on the day of the incidence Meena followed Chittora in the morning to execute him but somehow, he failed.

After a few hours Chittora was called by him to meet at 100 feet road of Subhagpura area. When he came there, Chotulal opened fire at him which missed. Thereafter, he attacked him with a knife, stabbed him several times and fled away from the scene leaving him severely injured, SHO Sukher police station Harendra Singh said.

While interrogation, accused Meena also revealed that during this time he stayed at various places including Ratlaam (M.P), Mumbai, Darjeeling, Jaipur and Delhi and when his money got over he decided to come to Udaipur to get some cash from one of his aid Mahendra Kothari. When on Tuesday he reached the city railway station, the Sukher police team arrested him, said SHO Sukher police station Harendra Singh.

During the investigation of the case, it was learnt that the murder of Dilip Chittora was related to a prolonged land dispute between the accused Meena and the victim Dilip Chottora. In the murder conspiracy, few other accused were also involved who all were arrested previously by the police, SHO added.

The disputed land (15 bigha) was situated at Savina Kheda area of Udaipur which was registered under the name of Brijbala, Chotulal’s wife. Both the parties were having issues related to the possession of the land since 2005 and the suicide of Chotu’s wife is also associated with that issue, SHO Informed.

The accused Chotulal was arrested and booked for murder of Dilip and the interrogation is still on.
