The appalling death in the jail barracks has shaken the city Police Administration. Among the several questions being raised after the incident, it has also been questioned how the hands and legs of the victim were tied and how someone can commit suicide in such circumstances.
The Police, however, still does not seem much convinced and surprisingly believes it to be a case of suicide though Anant Kumar, DySP (East) said, “We will investigate the matter from every possible angle and also check if there is any possibility of a murder.”
The police are waiting for the postmortem report, whereas the relatives of the deceased have alleged murder and also said that Dinesh was threatened while in Jail and unknown people demanded money from him.
How Dinesh managed to get a rope inside Jail is also uncertain. Jail Superintendent, Kailash Trivedi also has not given any response and has said that the investigations are still on. Trivedi however denied knowing anything on Dinesh’s hostility with any other inmate.
Dinesh was lodged in Udaipur Jail from last 6 months. He was transferred from Mavli Jail.
As the victim was an under trial prisoner, the case will be investigated under the directions of the District Judge who will assign the investigation to his subordinate Judicial Magistrate.
