Shops at Hathipol area remained closed for few hours in protest after an 18-year-old boy was stabbed last night by two of his colleagues over petty issue. The victim, Rohit, succumbed to his injuries today morning.

Shops at Hathipol area remained closed for few hours in protest after an 18-year-old boy was stabbed last night by two of his colleagues over petty issue. The victim, Rohit, succumbed to his injuries today morning.

Soon after his death, the situation became tense in some areas of the old city. The police responded swiftly to ensure that the situation remained under control.

District Collector, Ashutosh Pednekar, announced a compensation of Rs.3 Lac to victim’s family and assured strict action against the accused.

According to police, Rohit Khatik, resident of Eklavya Colony, was stabbed by two of his colleagues Asif and Saddam at Brahmpol. All three of them work for an automobile company.

Rohit was stabbed multiple times by the accused duo after he refused to give his motorcycle to them. With severe injuries on chest and back, Rohit managed to reach his grandparent’s house in Ambavgarh where he eventually fell unconscious.

He was rushed to hospital and was admitted in ICU. He succumbed to his injuries today morning due to heavy bleeding.

Soon after the death news spread, a large number of people gathered at Khatikwada and Hathipol areas. All shops were closed as situation turned tense. All senior police officials rushed to the area and dispersed the crowd.

The protestors demanded compensation and arrest of both absconding accused.

Collector Ashtosh Pednekar announced the compensation of Rs.3 Lac. Police has started massive search for the accused Saddam and Asif.

As per the reports, many shops in the area have now opened up. A large police force has been deployed to keep the situation under control.
