Residents Doctors Association of Udaipur has installed notice boards outside MB Hospital to inform people about laws and regulations concerning incidents of assaulting and abusing medical doctors by the relatives of patients.

Under Rajasthan Medicare Service Providers and Medicare Services Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property Act 34 of 2008, offences related to medical doctors or destroying the property of hospital may be subject to legal and strict action against the accused.

Kaptan Singh, President of the resident doctors association said that 20 such notice boards are installed at various areas of the MB Hospital. The motive is only to inform the citizens about the laws and regulation.

“We have faced incidents of attacks by patient’s relatives several times and every time the sufferer is only the patient” said Singh.

“The notice board is actually for the cause of patients and not to publicize our authority” he further added.

Kaptan Singh also said that, “This act is applied by the government after end numbers of such incidents were reported where relatives of patients have attacked doctors and damaged property of the hospital. We hope this notice board will make things better.”
