Resident Doctors Association of Udaipur ended their indefinite strike against the alleged physical abuse of a female resident doctor by a patient’s attendant. The strike ended after Residents were satisfied with the steps taken by the administration on their demands.

Resident Doctors had demanded increased security and arrest of the accused. Two women, accused of thrashing a female resident doctor, were arrested today. Both women were later released on bail.

On the security front, considering the frequent abuse of resident doctors by patients and their relatives, the administration decided to take a slew of strict measures. RNT Medical College administration has decided to keep a tab on the entrance of the hospital campus by blocking both main entrances for common public. The gates will be guarded by security personnel and no one can enter the hospital premises without permission.

The above decision was made in a meeting that had members of RNT College Administration, HoD of all departments and Superintendent of MB hospital. The meeting was held in presence of resident doctors today.

Narendra Dhakad, President of Resident Doctors Association said that the administration agreed to our demands and hence we have decided to end our strike.

According to Residents, there is a lot of nuisance due to the hospital premise being used as a throughway to go from Ashwini Bazaar to Hospital Road. The gates will now remain closed and two guards will be appointed to check every person.

Muslim Mahasabha, on the other hand, has warned of a mass protest if no action is taken against resident doctors who have been alleged of negligence that caused a death of one of their community members on 2nd June. A report has also been lodged in this regard.
