Robber shot dead, 5 fled in a failed robbery attempt in cement factory

A suspected robber was shot dead by the security guard on duty in a mining area of a cement manufacturing plant at Pindwara in Sirohi district on late Friday night. The deceased was a part of a gang of 6 men who attempted theft at the mining area of the Binani Cement factory.

Immediately after the incident, the other robbers fled away leaving their associate in injured condition, while some of the factory workers rushed the suspect to local hospital from where he was referred to Udaipur. The man succumbed to his injuries at MB Hospital.

According to sources, today hundreds of men from tribal community gathered to protest at the factory and mines premises. A group from the community also reportedly set two cranes on fire.

However, the police kept the situation under control. The protesters demanded a hefty amount of 30 lakh as death compensation and employment to four members of the deceased’s family. The deceased was later identified as an ex security guard in the company who had been fired for having indulged in theft while in service.

According to sources, 6 armed men entered the factory premises and initiated attack on 3 people on duty.

Seeing the attack, a security guard gunfired at the gang which hit Samira Ram Garasia, resident of nearby Malap village.

However, the police haven’t received an official complaint from the company and officials even denied of any violence in the area.

Till late evening arbitration was going on between the community men, labor union leaders and management representatives for amicable settlement of the issue.
