A Station Head Officer of Sarada police station, arrested by ACB Udaipur for taking bribe in 2002, was sentenced to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment and penalized with Rs. 2000 on Friday.
The accused SHO Rajendra Singh Chauhan of Warda village (Dungarpur) was caught by the Anti Corruption Bureau team in July 2002 from his residential quarter. The accused was netted by the team while he was taking a bribe amount of Rs. 1000 from the victim against taking action in his favor in a case. The victim had already paid him Rs. 1000 in advance.
ACB had also found an amount of Rs. 1,42,000 from his house which was also seized by them. The matter was since under trial.
On Friday 23rd January, the magistrate Narsihadas Vyas gave a major decision of sentencing the accused SHO for 2 years of imprisonment and penalization of Rs. 2000 in the presence of 31 supporting documents and 19 witnesses.
This is to be considered that the victim Mangilal Garg of Jhadol had complained to the ACB against the SHO in July 2002 accusing him of taking bribe of Rs. 2000 from him for molding the case in his favor and that he had already paid Rs. 1000 in advance.
Upon receiving the information, the ACB had started verification of the matter and had nabbed him at his residential quarter.
