A Sub Inspector has been allegedly arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau team of Udaipur on Wednesday while he was accepting bribe amount of Rs.3000 from a victim for not taking him on remand under a case of theft and also for beating him at the police station while interrogation, AdSP ACB Brijesh Soni said.
As per Soni the accused SI Pruthvi Singh was trapped by his team at Hathipol police station compound while he was accepting the bribe from complainant. The SI was nabbed red handed and was booked under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The complainant Shekhar Sharma informed that three of his neighbors were arrested by the police under the charge of theft. The SI was investigating the case and had demanded an amount of Rs. 15000 from them for not taking them to remand and not to allegedly beat them during interrogation. The SI had already taken Rs.5000 in advance and called the victim to deliver other installment of Rs.3000 on Wednesday, Soni added.
The victim informed the Bureau about the demand after which the ACB team including DySP Rajeev Joshi verified the complaint and raided the police station. The cops are now interrogating the accused further in relation to the matter.
